TUNG, What is it that moves?
Masterclass with Cristina Caprioli
TUNG in Swedish means “heavy.” TUNGA means “tongue.” Through a process of physical and mental warm-up, creation, composition, and theoretical reflection on the physical material produced, participants engage with the present through choreographic practice, understood as a liminal space for the production of meaning and relationships. This reflection expands from dance to objects, from conditions to the world.
The masterclass is part of Ten Calls – One Year of Candid Dancing, conceived and curated by Cristina Caprioli: an in-depth program dedicated to choreography, structured as a series of meetings, sessions, and events exploring its linguistic, scientific, and political implications, as well as its relationship to contemporary reality.
ABOUT
Cristina Caprioli is one of the most established and internationally acclaimed choreographers on the Swedish dance scene. In the mid-1990s, she founded the independent organization Ccap, through which she produces performances, installations, films, objects, publications, and other choreographic works, while also leading long-term interdisciplinary research projects. Her choreographic practice is distinguished by precision, complexity, and a highly refined body technique. All of her productions challenge normative formats and the exchange economies of the performing arts sector.
From 2008 to 2013, she taught choreographic composition at the DOCH School of Dance and Circus in Stockholm, where she developed methods and formats for artistic research. She has received numerous awards and grants and has played a significant role in shaping critical discourse in the fields of dance and choreography in Sweden. In 2024, she was awarded the Leone d'oro for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale Danza.

Registration
The seminar is addressed to dance, movement, theatre students and professionals, a maximum of 12 participants will be selected.
In order to participate we ask you to share:

A portfolio or a short video link (Vimeo or Youtube) displaying your work or your practice;

A resume to be uploaded (max 15Mb) or via a weblink (google drive, website, etc…).
Places are limited, a maximum of 12 participants will be selected.
Deadline for applications is 30.09.26 (applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, we encourage you not to wait until the last day to apply).
Accepted participants will be informed by email with all the further steps to take to join us.
